Everything You need for an Arabian Nights Moroccan Theme Party

Updated: Aug 1, 2023

If you’re looking to throw an Arabian Nights Moroccan themed party, you’ll need a few key ingredients to make it a success. From decor, outfits, food, activities and entertainment, here’s everything you need to make a party everyone will be talking about for years to come.

Decorations

When it comes to decorations for an Arabian Nights Moroccan themed party, think colorful fabrics and tapestries, lanterns and candles, exotic flowers and plants, pillows and cushions to create a cozy lounge area. Rich jewel tones like sapphire, ruby and amethyst are great for this theme, as well as vibrant oranges and yellows. To go the extra mile, rent some moroccan style tents, furniture and carpets from your local party rental company.

Dress

When it comes to choosing the right outfit for your Moroccan themed party, the sky's the limit! You can go for a bohemian vibe and get something think long and flowy like a kaftan (theres plenty of choices on Amazon but my favorite place to get a beautifully adorned kaftan is in Little India in Artesia, CA). You can also go the sexier route with some harem pants and crop top. Don't forget to accessorize with belly chains, head jewelry, and of course earrings and necklace. For men, fabrics like silk, linen or even velvet are excellent choices, as well as loose-fitting pieces in vibrant colors. The men can also try kaftans or billowing pantaloons. Finish off the look with a fez or a traditional turban.

Food

Choosing the right food is a very personal choice depending on the dietary restrictions you and your guests have. To complement the theme of the party, it's nice to offer some middle eastern food. Fortunately most Middle Eastern restaurants cater and you can choose from a wide variety of foods to suit your dietary needs. Don't forget to get some baklava for dessert too! For drinks, I love a classic Moroccan Mint tea or if your serving alcohol, try Arak a middle eastern spirit made from Anis seeds and grape.

Activities

To really get your guests into the spirit of the party, consider setting up a few activities. Set up a hookah bar for those who want to take part in the traditional practice. Hire a belly dancer to entertain guests with a dance performance and lift the energy in the room by encouraging everyone to dance and move their bodies. Bring a sense of thrill and excitement for you guests by adding a fire dancer or snake charmer. Bringing some middle eastern drummers and your guests won't be able to resist the dance floor. You can also organize a henna station or bring a fortune teller where guests can sit and get a reading or a beautiful henna tattoo.
